Mediation Training Overview
You have now joined the many lawyers, business people, insurance claims representatives, therapists, human resource specialists, and other professionals who have utilized the resources we have to meet their mediation and negotiation training needs.
In North Carolina, that usually means mediation training that is certified by the Dispute Resolution Commission—–and, leads to your certification as a mediator in our court system. We have that training for you, whether it’s certification in our civil trial courts, in the Industrial Commission for workers’ compensation cases, in estate and guardianship cases before the Clerk, in federal court cases, or in family and divorce cases.
But it also means training as a negotiator. You may be surprised to learn that almost one-half of the students in our 40-hour training courses do not intend to become certified mediators, much less try to make a career in mediation. They arrive telling us that they want to learn how to represent their clients better in mediation; and they leave telling us that they just had their first real negotiation training.
It’s amazing, but true: most business people and professionals have never taken a negotiation course in their entire academic careers. If it’s true for you, you can fill that gap with us. So, whether you want to be a mediator or want to negotiate better, Mediation, Inc. has what you need.
Our trainings and seminars are conducted by experienced mediators and trainers and are led by one of the most experienced mediators in North Carolina, J. Anderson (Andy) Little. Mr. Little led the NC Bar Association’s efforts to implement mediation in the NC court system, trained over 3100 people in mediation and negotiation, developed advanced techniques for mediating commercial and personal injury claims, authored a successful book on civil court mediation published by the ABA, Making Money Talk, and served on and chaired the NC Dispute Resolution Commission, which is the body that certifies and regulates mediators and mediator training programs in North Carolina.
